I am directed by Secretary the Earl of Carnarvon to forward for the information of Lieutenant General Sir J. F. Burgoyne, the enclosed correspondence respecting the deposit in Devonport Dockyard of two Brass Guns, &c., by Admiral Sir C. F. A. Shadwell Lumley, and to request His Lordship's instructions that you cause enquiries to be made with a view to ascertaining whether the Guns belong to the Public Stores.
The return of the Enclosures, which are in original, is requested.
